"The EU project: Due to their age and lifestyle, female students as a group are especially at risk from various forms of sexual violence – the aim of the three-year European-wide research project “Gender-based Violence, Stalking and Fear of Crime” (2009-2011) is to verify this hypothesis and to collect, analyse and compare relevant data in five European countries. By analysing the qualitative and quantitative data in a comparative survey it aims to rising awareness for the victimisation of female students. In the consequence this will support universities in their efforts to decrease sexual violence at universities, to help victims and to implement adequate instruments of prevention and intervention".

The World Youth Report "is largely based on an e-discussion with young people and representatives of youth-led organizations on the transition from schools and training institutions into the world of work"
more ›"The World Youth Report 2011 explores the transition of young people from schools and training institutions into the labour market, a phase marking a critical period in the life cycle. The current employment scenario for young people, worsened by the global economic crisis, poses an urgent challenge with long-term implications for both young people and society as a whole. Young people themselves are crucial stakeholders in the pursuit of decent and productive work for all. Yet, too frequently, their voices go unheard and their positive and negative experiences and viewpoints unshared, particularly with decision-makers. Therefore, the World Youth Report is intended above all to explore youth employment issues mainly through the words of young people themselves around the world".

The report is compiled by the Australian Institute of Criminology and examines drug use in alleged offenders through interviews and urine samples across nine police stations across the country.
The report found that two-thirds of the 5,714 police detainees who had provided a urine sample tested positive to at least one type of drug."

Center for Problem-Oriented Policing (POP Center): "The recent shooting in Chardon, Ohio, High School brings to the fore once again the question of how such tragedies can be prevented. A common response is to call for placing police officers in schools. In fact, police agencies have long provided services to schools. An estimated one-third of all sheriffs' offices and almost half of all municipal police departments assign nearly 17,000 sworn officers to serve in schools. Moreover, nearly half of all public schools have assigned police officers. It has only been in the past two decades, however, that assigning police officers to schools on a full-time basis has become a widespread practice. Our most recent Response Guide, Assigning Police Officers to Schools by Barbara Raymond summarizes the typical duties of police in schools and asseses their effectiveness. While the POP center does not as yet offer a guide specifically on school shootings, there are a number of our Guides that are closely related to the problem. These are: Bullying in Schools, Bomb Threats in Schools, and School Vandalism and Break-ins."
