Public Policy Exchange will be hosting a webinar on Preventing Forced Marriage: Evaluating UK efforts to tackle forced marriage domestically and internationally and assessing avenues for improvement which will take place on Thursday, April 10th 2025 between 9:30 AM — 1:00 PM

Programme:

 

  • Understand current trends in forced marriage in the UK and its drivers and evaluate existing police and judicial efforts to tackle it and key challenges in this regard
  • Review existing UK legislation and policies relating to forced marriage and child marriage and consider avenues for improvement
  • Learn about and assess what the thew new Labour government is doing to tackle forced marriage in the UK and internationally
  • Devise mechanisms to better report incidents of child marriage in the UK
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to eliminate forced marriage in the UK
  • Assess the role that the Forced Marriage in Domestic Legislation Database
  • Exchange views on how the UK can learn from and engage with international partners and institutions to improve domestic efforts and strengthen and better coordinate the global fight to tackle forced marriage
  • Examine examples of good practice and different approaches to tackling forced marriage internationally
