The publication provides advice on how to plan and evaluate a crime prevention project, focused on projects administered by the police.

The publication contains information on a wide range of topics concerning evaluation, ranging from working steps (including two detailed examples) to addresses for free further advice and cooperation from public institutions and for opportunities for the sponsoring and funding of projects. Information on evaluated projects is provided as well as a glossary of technical terms (in English) relating to evaluation research methodology and selected criminological issues. An Appendix shows the German Police Crime Prevention Guidelines and an excerpt on prevention from German police regulations.
